Tanners Douro Red 2019
Sorry, currently out of stock
Lovely juicy black fruit character with herbs and peppery hints on the palate. Plenty of depth, complete and easy.
There’s a lot of flavour packed into this own-label bottling made by Duorum for Tanners. It’s made using classic port grapes (including touriga nacional). Liquorice root, black liquorice sticks, dark berries, a touch of Douro wilderness, reassuringly firm tannins and a refreshing tang. A fine example of what the Douro can do. Victoria Moore, The Daily Telegraph, 11th June 2022.
A succulent, juicy red with plenty of dark fruit and spicy intensity. Produced from two sites in the Douro Valley, it is cracking value. Will Lyons, The Times, 15th June 2022.
A good example of the kind of value you can find in independent wine merchants: yes, there are cheaper examples of unfortified red wines from the home of port. But, pound for pound, none offer more joyous, dark-fruited succulence than this.
David Williams, The Guardian, 24th April 2022.
